Working together for a healthy mouth
Are you having trouble with your gums or have you had a lot of cavities lately? Then you can go to the dental hygienist. They will help you get a good picture of what exactly is causing your complaints. So that you can do something about it together.
An appointment with the dental hygienist
The dental hygienist can help you with oral care or with preventing cavities and gum disease. You can be referred by your dentist, but you can also make an appointment directly. Such a treatment usually takes half an hour to an hour, depending on what exactly is needed. The dental hygienist can use anesthesia and fill certain cavities in teeth and molars. Good to know: children up to the age of eighteen can visit the dental hygienist for free.
This is what our dental hygienist does
It starts with an examination of your mouth, to see if there are any visible abnormalities that explain your complaints. And if so, how they can be solved. If it is not clearly visible to the naked eye, the dental hygienist can make plaster casts, x-rays and or perform a bacterial examination.
Your teeth will then be thoroughly cleaned. Plaque, deposits and tartar will be removed with a hook, ultrasonic device or Airflow. To prevent you from having problems with your teeth again, the dental hygienist often takes some preventative actions, such as fluoride to protect your teeth, sealing and polishing fillings.
